From after-school tennis to summer sports camps, ANTS Sports and the City of Piedmont are creating opportunities for kids to learn, grow, and discover a love of sports in a fun, supportive environment.
Youth sports don’t always have to be about competition. At ANTS Sports, we believe the best sports experiences help kids develop new skills, build confidence, connect with others, and discover the joy of being active. Through our partnership with the City of Piedmont, we’ve spent years bringing this approach to local families through summer camps and after-school enrichment programs.
Since 2020, ANTS Sports has worked with Piedmont Recreation Department (PRD) to offer sports programming that meets kids where they are, whether they’re trying a sport for the first time or looking to build on skills they’ve already developed. Across our programs, the goal stays the same: create a fun, safe, and age-appropriate environment where every child feels welcome, supported, and excited to participate.

Practice AND Play: After-School Tennis in Piedmont
Through our partnership with PRD, ANTS Sports offers after-school tennis programs at local tennis courts for kids ages 4-13. Our tennis programs help kids develop their skills, stay active, and enjoy learning the sport in a supportive environment. Our program welcomes all skill levels, from beginners picking up a racket for the first time to experienced players looking to continue developing their game.
Our coaches use engaging activities, games, and positive encouragement to help kids learn the fundamentals while enjoying the process. Through a mix of individual skill work, partner activities, and fun team games, players get plenty of opportunities to practice new skills and put them into action. Modified equipment, including smaller rackets and easier-to-hit balls, helps kids learn at a pace that works for them.
Whether a child is picking up a racket for the first time or continuing to develop their game, we want them to feel comfortable trying new things, proud of their progress, and excited to get back on the court. Along the way, we also encourage healthy habits, team camaraderie, and good sportsmanship on and off the court.
PRD Fall Session 1 wraps up next week, and Session 2 begins November 2! It’s a great opportunity for kids to join the fun, build their skills, and enjoy after-school tennis with ANTS Sports.

A Piedmont Favorite: After-School Volleyball
Volleyball has become one of ANTS Sports’ most popular programs in Piedmont, and it’s easy to see why! With the help of our wonderful Coach Mandy, players build their skills, support one another, and discover just how much fun learning volleyball can be. Her coaching helps create the kind of welcoming, encouraging environment we always strive to foster at ANTS, where kids feel comfortable trying new things and growing their confidence on the court.
Our fall volleyball program wraps up with Session 1, but we’re looking forward to bringing it back for the winter/spring season. For families interested in volleyball, stay tuned for upcoming program announcements!

STAR Sportsmanship: Growing Through Sports
At ANTS Sports, we see sports as an opportunity for growth both on and off the court. Learning a new skill takes patience and practice. Playing alongside others creates opportunities to communicate, cooperate, and encourage one another. Trying something unfamiliar helps kids discover what they’re capable of, even when it takes a few attempts to get there.
Our coaches help make these experiences possible by creating a positive environment where effort matters more than being the best player. Rather than focusing on competition or results, we emphasize progress, participation, and the fun of learning together.
Sportsmanship is part of that approach. ANTS uses our STAR framework to help kids put positive values into practice: Super Fun, Teamwork, Always Try, Respect. These values help shape the culture of our programs and encourage habits that kids can carry into school, friendships, and the rest of their lives.

Beyond the School Year: Sports in Piedmont All Year Round
Our partnership with the City of Piedmont extends beyond the school year. Each summer, ANTS Sports offers camps that give kids more opportunities to explore sports, stay active, and connect with peers. Our summer programs include tennis camps, volleyball camps, and pickleball camps.
These camps offer a special mix of summer magic, skill-building, and play! Each camp runs for 2-3 hours a day throughout the week. This consistency creates more opportunities to practice skills, try new things, and build on what they learned the day before. Whether they’re discovering a new sport or developing skills in a favorite, kids get to enjoy an immersive week of sports and FUN with positive, supportive coaches.
We’re grateful to the City of Piedmont and PRD for helping make these opportunities available to local families throughout the year. Together, we’re creating more ways for kids to stay active, build confidence, and discover sports they may enjoy for years to come.
