All ANTS coaches must meet our strict requirements for excellence.

  1. Coaches are selected and screened based on experience and passion in early childhood sports development. If you’re an aspiring coach and think you have what it takes, apply!
  2. All coaches must complete background checks & TB test requirements.
  3. All coaches are trained in developmentally appropriate curriculum and techniques.

With our guidance and curriculum expertise, we’ll empower you to lead or assist a youth sports class in your community.  You’ll combine your passion and experience with ours to ensure that the the kids leave feeling empowered, strong, and healthy.

Location: Bay Area

Job Type: Part-time

As an ANTS Coach, you’ll lead or assist a weekly after school program at one of our Bay Area partner elementary schools.  If interested and your schedule permits, you may coach multiple days of the week. Programs last through the fall & spring semester, with summer options available. Time commitment is 1-10 hrs per week, depending on how many classes you teach. We provide all necessary training, equipment, and support. Interested? Read on!
 

Coach Responsibilities

  • Lead or assist a sports class of 8-12 K-5th grade students after school hours
  • Attend ANTS training in person for early childhood development curriculum
  • Teach the FUNdamentals of your preferred sport through a cohesive and game-filled lesson plan
  • Interact positively with parents, teachers, and school staff
  • Ensure a safe and reliable program by conducting roll call and signing in/out students before and after class
  • (If applicable) Bring equipment to class and set-up and clean-up assigned space.

Locations

Our partner schools are located across Oakland, San Francisco, Walnut Creek and Orinda. We will work with you to ensure your program is in a desirable location based on your area.

Schedule

Classes generally run from August to December and January through May. They occur once/week on the same day each week. Classes take places between the hours of 2pm – 4:30pm, so you must be available to coach in the afternoons on your program day. Classes last for one hour. Some of our programs offer back-to-back classes for different age groups. To request a specific sport or if you have availability to coach only on a specific day, please note that in our application.

Requirements

  • Transportation: Coaches must have reliable transportation to get to their various coaching sites. You may be required to bring equipment to & from class so a vehicle is very helpful.
  • Responsible & professional: Arrive on time to each practice and keep accurate attendance. Interact with parents and school staff positively.
  • Communication: Have strong communication skills. It is required for coaches to communicate with ANTS, parents, and site staff through email and phone.
  • Enthusiastic & fun: ANTS coaches should always be positive role models for our students. We expect that you share our deep beliefs in the larger themes we are promoting: sportsmanship, wellness, and respect. Help make ANTS Sports the highlight of our blossoming athletes’ day!
  • Patience: Be a patient person who understands young children & the need to develop at their own pace.
  • Experience: Experience as a player or coach (at least 2 years) is highly preferred, though not necessarily required.
  • Background check: A successful candidate must pass a Federal & State Background Check and/or FBI Fingerprinting (Livescan) and test negative for TB test (within the last 4 year).

Compensation

  • We start coaches at $25-$35/program hour, based on experience.
  • Flexible schedule and opportunity for leadership opportunities
  • This is a part-time (W2) employee position

  • Ensure a safe and reliable program by conducting roll call and signing in/out students before and after class
  • Set up before and clean up after your program
  • Transport all equipment to/from class each week

  • Dates: Mondays from Feb 3rd – May 8th
  • Time: 2:35 – 3:35pm

Soccer @ Chabot Elementary (2 practice hours/week)

  • Grades: K-2 and 3-5
  • Dates: Wednesdays from Jan 6th to March 13th and Apr 6 – May 22nd
  • Time: 1:50 – 4:00pm

Soccer @ Crocker Elementary (1 practice hour/week)

  • Grades: K-2
  • Dates: Thursdays from Feb 6th – May 14th
  • Time: 2:45 – 4:00pm

Soccer @ Thornhill Elementary (back to back, 2 practice hours/week)

  • Grades: TK-K and 1-5
  • Dates: Fridays from Jan 24th – May 15th
  • Time: 2:20 – 4:00pm

  • Ensure a safe and reliable program by conducting roll call and signing in/out students before and after class
  • Set up before and clean up after your program
  • Transport all equipment to/from class each week (head coach only)

Locations

Our partner schools are located across Oakland, San Francisco, and Walnut Creek. We will work with you to ensure your program is in a desirable location based on your area.

Martial Arts @ St. Finn Elementary (1 practice hour/week)

  • Grades: K-5
  • Dates: Fridays from Feb 7th – May 22nd
  • Time: 3:15 – 4:15pm

Martial Arts @ St. Anne Elementary

  • Grades: K-6
  • Dates: Mondays from Jan 27th – May 18th
  • Time: 2:30pm – 3:30pm (Sometimes begins at 12:30pm on minimum days)
